Outreach

Outreach

For over 25 years, our Outreach program has brought people, without regular access to live theater, to the Playhouse to attend performances free of charge.

With funding from Morris Arts, and individual donors who share our vision for a world with unfettered access to the arts, Outreach provides busing and complimentary admission to our partners in youth and family programs, drug and alcohol dependency programs, physical injury rehabilitation, special education schools, senior citizen homes, and AIDS foundations. For many, this is their first live theatrical experience.

"L" notoriously has a tough attitude and has a hard time admitting when something is cool or interesting. He came into the playhouse thinking we were there to watch a movie.  He got in his seat, stated he didn't want to be there, then put his head in his lap.  As soon as the lights came up on stage and the actors delivered their first line, true magic happened.  "L" watched the rest of the show absolutely mesmerized by it, laughing at all the right beats.  At the end he proclaimed that he loved it and wants to come back "again and again and again."  –  Visions & Pathways, Arts & Recreation Department
