“Tape” Auditions

The Chatham Players will hold auditions for their One Weekend Only 3rd season closer, “TAPE” by Stephen Belber on Sunday, March 2 (6-9 pm) and Tuesday, March 4 (7-10 pm) at The Chatham Playhouse 23 North Passaic Ave. Chatham, NJ. Production dates are June 6 - 8, 2025Michael Sasso directs.

Three friends from high school meet at a motel for an overdue reunion, but the night quickly sours after one accuses another of committing a terrible crime years ago. Tape is an edge-of-your-seat, high-stakes thriller about power, memory, truth, and the love-hate bonds between friends.

"Note: Tape explores mature themes, including discussions of sexual violence."

Director Michael Sasso seeks a talented cast of 3 actors. Actors will be asked to read from sides provided at the audition, these and the Audition Form are below.

Character Breakdown

  • VINCE: A volunteer firefighter and full-time drug dealer. Nostalgic, jealous, and compulsive. He makes grand (but ill-conceived) plans. Vince remains somehow loveable, even when he makes others suffer. Age: 20-40

  • AMY: An assistant district attorney. Cool, collected, and emotionally intelligent. She is careful to control when and how she reveals the deep hurt that she harbors. Amy dated both Vince and Jon in high school. Age: 20-40

  • JON: A young filmmaker on the rise. Vince’s closest high school friend. Though Jon is intellectual and well spoken, he lacks deep self-awareness. His stylish and “hip” presentation may be a front to conceal his self-doubt. Age: 20-40
